ABOUT
I am Lauren Shaw, a London-based Play Therapist accredited by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT).
I qualified in 2017 from the University of Roehampton and since that time I have been delivering services to children, young people and families with complex needs.
I am trauma-informed and have experience of working with children and families from diverse and complex backgrounds: disrupted development, attachment disruptions, neglect, trauma, behavioural challenges, high anxiety, disability, social and emotional difficulties, parental separation, adopted and looked after children.
Services:
1:1 Play Therapy Sessions
1:1 Tele-Play Therapy Sessions
Parent Support Sessions
School Services
I use an integrative approach, using both directive and non-directive Play Therapy approaches. I believe that when children are given the opportunity to express themselves freely they often find solutions and resolve difficult life experiences themselves, using play materials, creative activities and their therapist as tools in this discovery.
I also believe that therapeutic work does not exist in isolation and that work with parents/carers is vital to successful therapeutic outcomes. For this reason, I completed my Filial Therapy training in 2017.
I offer training to schools and parenting groups on the importance of playful parenting.
